Ukuta bush lodge is situated on a private game reserve in the Waterberg biosphere close to the town of Vaalwater in the Limpopo province of South Africa

Being on a private game reserve gives you as guests the freedom to do more with greater flexibility. We offer guests an authentic bush experience and natural feel. The Bush Lodge is nestled between trees and is tucked away deep in the reserve where you are undisturbed. Here you can expect to find Blue and Golden Wildebeest, Impala and Black Impala, Eland, Zebra, Oryx, Buffalo, Giraffe, Nyala, Warthog, Waterbuck, Blesbuck, Kudu, Bushpig, Caracal, Honey badger, Sivet, Gennet, Brown hyena, Porcupine, and Leopard.

Ukuta Private game reserve is home to over 400 species of birds that has been seen and confirmed in our region.

On Ukuta private game reserve there are approximately 180 species that you can encounter throughout the year.

  • If two units / 4 adults make a booking than the lodge is for the exclusive use of the party and no other units will be bookable for unrelated guests.
  • If 1 unit is booked than 1 other unit will be available to be booked by unrelated guests and the lodge will be shared between the guests occupying the 2 units.
  • 1 Group are allowed to book all 4 units (both the Chalets and Tents) for their use but guests must note their is a maximum of 4 guests allowed in Hornbill hide, and 5 guests in Sable Hide at any one session.
  • A maximum of 5 persons can book a the horse riding activity at any 1 time
  • A maximum of 8 people can book the Big 5 game drives at one time.

Hides @ Ukuta

Ukuta’s photographic hides have been purposefully built to get guests as close as possible to wildlife.

The hides are built with special coated glass getting photographers and wildlife enthusiasts close without compromising photo quality. All Hides are kitted with Airconditioning and Wi-fi offering you a super comfortable experience as you snap and enjoy wild animals doing what they do naturally and be amazed at the variety of birding opportunities these hides provide.

Note: No persons under the age of 16 years old allowed in/use of photographic hides.

Hides Protocol

Hornbill hide is connected to Ukuta Bush lodge and gives guests the opportunity to slip into the hides for photographic sessions from the comfort of the lodge.

Sable overnight hide gives you the opportunity to stay and sleep in Sable Hide to photograph or just enjoy animals so rarely seen anywhere else.

Eland, Wildebeest, buffalo, kudu, Zebra coming to drink at night makes it memorable, but give yourself the opportunity to get up close to nightlife including hyena, bushpig, honeybadger, sivet, gennets, porcupines and even leopard
